What should priority pathogen slugs look like ?

They should be relatively stable, since they appear in the URL (e.g. https://brc-analytics.dev.clevercanary.com/data/priority-pathogens/phenuiviridae-prototype-pathogen-viral-family) and we want people to be able to link to these pages. Does it make sense to pick the pathogen (or pathogen family) as the slugs here ?

What about slugifying the name of the pathogen that we can get by looking it up in NCBI by its taxon ID?

the only way to achieve something truly stable would be for us to go out of our way to guarantee that.. define them manually ourselves, or keep track of them as they change and redirect, etc.

if we dont like using the display names and making a rule for ourselves to not change those once they go to prod, this is probably the best alternative human-readable solution that makes any near term sense

they absolutely should be unique per detail page, and if theyre ever not id think that would be an error needs addressing.

thats a very hard question. they can change, take candida auris as an example. id guess that happens infrequently, but its only a guess and im ready to be proved very wrong lol. our data, as received from the ncbi api has proved remarkably fluid so far (see #499)

i will say though, that im already going out of my way to provide display names manually. i dont mind amending those to also serve better as slugifyable things, and accepting that once they go to prod i must live w my choices. if at some point we outgrow that for some reason, i think there are ways to deal w that, and we should consider it then. so unless someone objects, ill probably update the display names for now and let it ride.

We decided on the tech team call to leave the title slugs as the URLs. We cleaned up the titles a bit to support this.
