We were discussing this PR a bit with the team, and I'm not sure it makes sense to merge it to main. The worry is that with so many hosting providers out there (Vercel, Cloudflare Pages, Netlify, etc) it's not clear where we should stop in adding config files. This is meant to be an open source example app that anyone can fork and use, and I don't think we want to be prescriptive on how you should host it.

Adding in all those configurations for each provider is going to make it more confusing for developers. And adding only one makes it seem like we are making an endorsement.

Happy to leave this PR open as reference for any developer who wants to use GitPod. Maybe at some point we will create a "deployment" section of our documentation, where we can reference this work as well as instructions for several other hosting providers.
