Thanks for taking a crack at this!

Did you mean to open this a draft? It does not appear entirely complete.

At first glance, the correct training components (label assignment, training loss, mAP metric, etc.) are missing.

P.S.: for COCO we have support in ImageFolderDataset::new_coco_detection(...)
