openutau won't play (when it worked fine before) #1659

i've been working in utau for a few months now without any issues. nothing has changed since yesterday and today (when i last worked on my song and when this started happening)--no new banks, no updates, nothing. the play button will not work no matter what. i have an instrumental imported, so at first, i thought maybe it was that. changed it, nothing. then i thought it was that specific file, but in a new file (after reopening and everything) the same thing happened. i tried checking for updates, different voicebanks, different song files, closing it and waiting, even reinstalling everything, but nothing changed. the only similar issue i could find was someone using romanji instead of hirigana, which i am positive i am not doing (all the notes are in the right key and have the right labels and everything, and even if they weren't, it should still work with the imported audio). the bar won't move with spacebar or the button as if there was nothing in the file. it was working up until yesterday at the earliest midnight (again, when i last used it), since this only started happening an hour or so ago, the first time i've tried using it today. sorry for the repetition, just trying to make it as clear as possible.

play a song with imported audio or a functioning note plus some other factor i don't know about. not sure what the difference is. the bank i was using was merry (acrobat), but i tried with different banks + without any bank at all.
