Manual grading and resetting exercises
This page covers various topics related to grading exercises manually, and explains how to reset exercises for students.
As a teacher, you can manually give points to students for their exercise submissions.
- Create a new exercise (instructions Create new exercise).
- Enable peer review and/or self review. (Instructions: Peer review ‐ how to set up). Please note that currently it is not possible to set up manual grading without setting up either peer or self review.
- In creating the exercise: Peer and self review configuration -> Peer review processing strategy -> Manual review everything
- Remember to save the changes.
Once a student has submitted an answer and given and received enough peer reviews (and/or submitted a self review), you will see a number on a red background in the exercises tab. This means that there are answers waiting to be manually reviewed.
Go to Exercises tab and scroll until you see an exercise with the tag 'View answers requiring attention'. Click on the tag to view answers and start grading.

Under each submission, you have have different options for giving points (Zero points, Full points, Custom points). With custom points you can give any number of points between the minimum (0) and maximum. You can also view the reviews the student has received and given, and any reports given if the answer has been flagged by other students.
It is possible to adjust the points a student has received for a submission.
In the admin view, select the 'Course instances' tab -> view points -> click student id link -> find the correct exercise -> expand -> give custom points.
