The CDK Step Functions was good for iterative design, but hard to maintain and extend.

We want to replace that with a Python lambda that matches our quiltdata/quilt/lambda design patterns.

However, we also want to make it easily extensible (e.g., changing the prefix, templates, etc.) -- if it can be done without too much complexity.

Especially a configurable canvas. Perhaps a series of templates that can be overridden?
