Scenario: Fedora 42 XFce created with Penguins-Eggs 25.8.31-1 latest release, does not install either with Calamares or using eggs install. Tests carried out on Virtualbox and VMWare Workstation Pro virtual machines, the result is always: unable to install grub. Using Calamares the EFI partition is automatically formatted in fat16, is this expected? And it reports (trying to examine the problem a little more in detail, with the limitations of NOT being a developer..) the presence of Secure Boot enabled, but obviously it is NOT enabled.

I think is solved with actual version, the problem was caused with the lacks on the command: grub2-install' of parameter --target=,TARGET/`

Good morning Piero Proietti and thanks for the quick reply. I did some tests:
With Calamares, it gives the same error mentioned in my first post: "Failed to install bootloader. The install command

grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/efi/EFI/fedora/grub.cfg

returned error code 1."
Using "eggs install" it seems to proceed fine until Step :bootloader, where it stalled for more than ten minutes,then continued to the next step: initramfs for a very long time (almost another ten minutes). Finally, it seems to have completed the step correctly, but upon reboot, there is no bootable operating system.
I'm not entirely sure what you mean by "configuring Calamares." I install and use it in Fedora without any modifications, and it has always worked.

I confirm the bug on UEFI, it happen also in other distros using my installer krll (sudo eggs install), I'm investigating.

Well, I fixed it on Ubuntu/Debian, was caused from an old way to check if the system is on UEFI.

On Fedora, there is some else yet...

well, just released penguins-eggs v25.9.3!

This is able to install - on fedora I used krill: sudo eggs install - and you can install on UEFI.

It was a long walk... but nice!

Ok, I haven't had any luck, the installations also fail with "eggs install" and when I restart I find myself with the system frozen. If it can help to discover the cause, these are:

Sorry for the failure...

I did a fedora image yesterday and installed it too on UEFI.

Download it from here must to work installing just with: sudo eggs install

Now I'm creating a nacked version too to test.

Both are working naked too, I'm just reinstalling it becouse it became 2.2 GB, perhaps the update but is too much.
The only command to install I do is:

sudo eggs install -u

it will DESTROY /dev/sda or /dev/vda in my case, so use it just on a clean VM.

OK, I removed all /boot/rescue we don't need on the ISO, now the image is just 1.6 G, comparable to that I get from Debian or Arch.

I think to add an exclusion on ./conf/exclude.list.d/master.list to exclude them from the copy, we don't need them on the ISO.

I added the exclusion, work great, I will release later bcouse release for all, but this exclusion is too nice to remain just on my code.

Here is not possible to include rpm... a pity... The new colibri from fedora is just 2.1G, much better!
