Description of issue

The latest glances formula introduces many non-essential dependencies https://github.com/Homebrew/homebrew-core/pull/229130/files, such as 'apache-arrow', which pulls in dozens of AWS-related formulae and several python packages to install. However these are marked as optional or development dependencies in the upstream project, see https://github.com/nicolargo/glances/blob/develop/dev-requirements.txt and https://github.com/nicolargo/glances/blob/develop/doc-requirements.txt. These packages don't seem very useful but take up a lot of space and increase maintenance burden.

Furthermore, this causes problems on older macOS systems due to API compatibility issues with some of those AWS packages if I want to build them locally.

In my testing, current glances can run fine within the installation steps as the previous formula without those extra dependencies on my MacOS devices. I haven't tested on Linux devices.

Please consider removing these new dependencies .

Not essential might be true, but it's the default install. If you want that changed you'll have to file an issue or pull request upstream.

I'd be happy to review a PR that adds back the influxdb component.

It's the new influxdb3 client that brings in the "unnecessary optional dependencies like apache-arrow". The PR that adds back the influxdb component would be reverting Homebrew/homebrew-core#231251.

I'd be fine with adding it back too. If someone cares enough about breakage to complain about it and open a PR to fix it, that seems like a good enough reason to revert the removal.

Pulling in apache-arrow doesn't just take up more disk space, but significantly degrades the initial install experience and all subsequent upgrades (users will start asking why does upgrading glances require upgrading dozens of random packages like aws-* and grpc? and conclude brew is slow/bloated). Those are our most common user complaints

Just my 2 cents, I'd like to see at least one other user request this feature before adding 30 extra formulae dependencies (@IngmarStein originally added the export extra in Homebrew/homebrew-core#220519, but we haven't heard from anyone else needing it). Alternatively, maybe we could add it back but exclude influxdb3-python (which pulls in pyarrow and thus our apache-arrow) since it seems like Ingmar only needs the influxdb2 client

@IngmarStein Also just to mention, I'm sure you're aware but you can easily use uvx to use glances with all extras like uvx glances[all] --export ...
