Programmatically change nwg-look settings

right now to write new settings programmatically you have edit ALL the gtk files and call nwg-look from the CLI, via nwg-look -a and nwg-look -x (for example to switch between light and dark mode). Is there any way to configure programmatically the settings written by nwg-look? So that the only action needed would be to set the icon theme and gtk theme for nwg-look and apply/export nwg-look programmatically.

The nwg-look -a command applies what's stored in the /.local/share/nwg-look/gsettings file. You'd need to edit it, and then run nwg-look -a, although I don't recommend doing so.

But as you said, this is not recommended then a cli flag to edit config would be really nice.
