Error reaching API server

Dear all,

It is some hours now that the notifications stopped working. I checked the endpoint in ~/.config/notify-run and I get the error page with "We're sorry, but something went wrong.", whereas the channel at https://notify.run/c/[channel-name] gives the error "Error reaching API server.". Is it something that I messed up or a general server issue?

Thanks for the heads up. I’ve had some issues with the server that I haven’t been able to diagnose. Unfortunately I’m traveling at the moment so it’s hard to fix immediately. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hi @rizwansoaib ! No, I haven't tried that yet. Maybe the error you faced is related to the server issues @paulgb mentioned.

Apologies for the slow reply, this happened to hit on a week I've been traveling so it's been a perfect storm.

I'm in the process of moving the server from a Dokku VM I manage to Google Cloud Run, which will allow it to scale as needed. I'll keep updates here.

The service is now running on Google Cloud but it's still using AWS for the database and hitting usage quotas. It seems to be one abusive channel that's causing a lot of the usage, so I'm trying to ban that user by IP to free up some resources.

I've deleted the channel, but it still needs to look up the channel on every request which uses read quota, so I'm trying to just ban the IP outright.

@paulgb is it possible to building front end in flask your open source site front end in type script so i am not able modify some features and deploy self hosting.

Or you can write documentation on deploying full flask+type script server.

Hi @paulgb is the database still under migration?

@aashuirch Technically the data migration itself is complete, but I hit a few snags switching over to the new database, so it's still in a place where if I allow new channel creation the channels will be lost when I switch over to the new server. I've since figured out those snags and am in the testing phase, so it should go live in a day or two. The backend has been completely rewritten and will scale better, and the data will be in Firebase which should perform better as well.
