Planar radial temperature about LWR tutorial

Hello！
Currently, in my work, I am able to obtain the temperature distribution in the z-axis direction. However, I can't get the radial temperature distribution like that in the LWR tutorial. I attempted to use a postprocessor named NodalVariableIntegralPD to obtain the nodal temperature. But there is no Peridynamics module in Cardinal. So, if I use this postprocessor, I need to rebuild my Cardinal, which is rather troublesome. In the tutorial, how is the planar radial temperature distribution diagram obtained? Is this result achieved by setting more cells?

Is it possible to extract the temperature values?

Hi @Kevrog1006, which output file are you looking at? Two different notions of temperature exist for this problem - there is the finite element temperature that MOOSE computes (this will be in the solid_out.e file), and then there is the cell-averaged temperature that gets passed into OpenMC (this will be in the solid_out_openmc0.efile). The image you attached would be the temperature in thesolid_out.efile, and from your message it sounds like you're instead opening thesolid_out_openmc0.e` file?

hello @aprilnovak , I tried the tutorial file of LWR again. I opened the files solid_um_out.e and solid_um_out_openmc0.e with ParaView, but I didn't get the results I wanted.

Ah, I think I know what the problem is. In Paraview, you need to indicate which time step you want to look at -- I think you are just looking at the initial condition right now. There should be a time-advancement panel in the top task bar. Here's what it looks like for me:

In fact, during my use of ParaView, I conducted a total of five time steps. Throughout these five time steps, the temperature of the axial layer remained constant, and there was little temperature change between different time steps. Moreover, within the same time step, I couldn't obtain a temperature distribution diagram within the axial layer like the one in the tutorial. The cross - section of the fifth time step is shown in the figure below.

Hi @Kevrog1006, you need to click the "rescale" icon immediately to the left of the drop-down listing which shows the different variables to look at. By default, Paraview will use a color scale based on the data range in time step 0. I just re-ran the tutorial myself and can confirm that opening solid_out.e and making sure to rescale the color range gives the expected continuous temperature field.

Thank you! It's very helpful to me! I couldn't use this function when using the ParaView version 5.12.1. It would crash when I tried to use it. I switched to the ParaView version 5.13.2 and obtained the following picture.
