Here you can find a library to implement a DMX devices that also listen and respond to RDM commands.

The library is compatible to the Arduino specification and the DMX Shield described in the article http://www.mathertel.de/Arduino/DMXShield.aspx describes the hardware needed to communicate DMX in both directions.
