Duplicate File Errors

Hi, I am in the process of copying all of my models from my Synology over to Manyfold. I keep my files in a directory per model on my Synology format of /Creator/Collection/Model. I SCP'd all the files over to my docker host and then ran a scan in Manyfold. It found all of the files but I got a number of duplicate file errors. Many of the models have the same file name of Plate X Gray, Plate Y Blue, etc. They are different files but the same filenames in each of these directories. Is it safe to just hide the errors in Manyfold or do I need to rename them? Thanks

Hi, if you go into the duplicate and open both potential duplicates side-by-side, are they actually false positives?

I just played around with the duplicate file tool yesterday quite a bit and found it did a great job finding (many) only real duplicates, even when I swore through my manual, meticulous management, I didnt have any 😅

My understanding is that it does a file hash, so it should do a pretty good job not identifying false positives

Aevaris, you are right, they are the same files as it looks like this model designer reused some plates between his models. I suspect if it was just file names there would be even more duplicates. I want to keep the duplicates so each "model" is complete and I am not worried about disk space. I assume there is no issue with just hiding these errors then. Thanks for the help!

Correct, if you want to keep the duplicates, just hide the error. I have some files where I intentionally am keeping duplicates as well.
