FR: Support for Meebook M8

Description:

As a koreader user more than two years, recently I purchase Meebook M8 and I sincerely hope you can add eink support for the device. The software runs fine on its Android 14 OS, while some crucial features are missing or dysfunction.

I have observed that while your platform supports a wide range of e-readers, including Boyue reader. The Meebook is a rebrand of that so I assume the coding wouldn't be difficult. Here are the feature that would significantly enhance the user experience for Meebook users:

1. E-Ink Refresh Rate Settings: Optimize refresh rates for Meebook M8 screen, a Carta 1200 one. The refresh page settings by chapter, page numbers is quite useful.
2. Front Light Adjustments and Color Temperature Settings: koreader fails to read the system brightness and the dual temperature front light.
3. Auto-Rotation support: there is a weird button when rotating, clicking it will expand the interface to fullscreen.
4. Text Selection and Refresh Rate settings: Meebook M8 supports up to 40hz (I guess it is an A2 refresh) the text selection refresh doesn't work currently.

Integrating these features would not only cater to Meebook M8 users but also demonstrate your commitment to offering a comprehensive and user-friendly experience across different e-ink devices.

If any specific device logs are needed, I'm more than willing to provide them. I would be glad to offer feedback.

Tried. Here is the log:

Test logs: empty.here is my response: none of brightness adjustment option works. As for the refresh, none works either. But I saw last gen 3566 chip, does that means a rk3576 is available when others devices are optimized?

I guess 2 and 4 are the same type. I'm assuming auto rotation issue doesn't fit this process, would you like to check on that? Gracias.

In that case there's nothing to be done unless someone writes a driver for the platform.

Hi, I don't know how helpful this is, but here's the OTA for the current latest firmware for the Meebook M8, MEEBOOK-V2.1.0-2025031900.
I included the original .zip with the payload.bin and it extracted in a .7z done with android-ota-payload-extractor.

I don't really know what to search for, if I can help somehow, tell me how.

Edit: Looked a bit through the files, found Haoqing-DeviceTest/com.DeviceTest. It's in chinese, but has a good brightness test (cold frontlight is simple normal android brightness control, warm frontlight is something else), it also has an aging with page turning so that could be a source to get that feature.
