Proposal:
Compile InfluxDB for the IBM Power System hardware, which run RHEL and Ubuntu. If you want a stretch also compile for AIX. The chipset is called POWER8 or POWER9 or collectively ppc64le.
Current behavior:
Your download page suggests x86 is the only computer chip on the planet. Oh! ARM gets one mention at the end. It is a little embarrassing to be honest.
Desired behavior:
Make ppc64le a tier 1 recompile.
Alternatives considered:
The guys at http://power-devops.com/influxdb offers binaries but not at your release times and installing can be difficult due to odd pre-reqs and install mechanisms.
Use case:
You are missing out on a lot of customers.
I have written a data collector for IBM AIX and Virtual I/O Server running on large scale POWER8/POWER9 servers. My workstation has 160 CPU cores and 256 GB RAM! The teams that operate these larger servers want to save the data to the same robust and fast computers (not a nasty little x86 box). Hint: These guys have money to spend for top quality tools (like InfluxDB) to monitor their 1000's of servers.
