crash when performing various menu actions while GPS/location Update is running

Latest version on F-Droid.

After App launch inside a building the App tries to find the location for quitte some time. If I open the three dot menu before it got a location and try for example "View Date" the App crashes immediately.

Btw.. I must have configured something wrongly but while Google Maps and OsmAnd find the location fairly quickly, SunTimes won't find even after one of the other apps got a location?

What is Settings -> Places - > Location recent max age set to?
If something like 1 minute it will force an update pretty much every time (vs reusing the previous location). I think the default is 5 minutes - maybe it should be upped to an hour.

I'm guessing that will improve it, but if not there might be a second bug here.

It is 5 minutes. Setting to one hour won't help given my usage patterns.

It might be an idea to start with the last location and display all information shaded until the location is updated. Using network location should also be good enough for most practical purposes.

That would not surprise me. It has been a long time since I've reviewed that code, but it manages the location providers itself, prefers gps over network, avoids FusedLocation, etc, so I can imagine a variety of reasons why other apps might outperform it.

I think its worth reviewing.
Open another issue and I will track it there (this one will be auto-closed when the release is tagged).
