Can we have a fix for the issue in this thread #15692 as part of the 1.62.2 patch?

@safisa I try to keep on top of new issues, but I'm not following all discussions. I you think you have found an issue, an issue is the better way to get it fixed.
As for a backport to non-community releases like 1.62, we usually only do that for issues affecting the Theia IDE use case, i.e. observable bugs in our code or breakage in popular public plugins, otherwise we'll fix in master. Not sure the issue falls in any of those categories.
That said, I'll have a look at this anyway and if it's a simple fix, it might well end up backported.

@JonasHelming yes, I think it's is a pretty safe change, in that it's broken now and the likelyhood of the fix breaking it more is low. But first we need it reviewed...

I'd also like to backport #15792, as it breaks built-in functionality (quick-diff) if we can get a timely review.

@ndoschek I have to disagree here: seems to be an old bug, which does not affect badly affect most users. We can live with this one until the next release.
