Use default system color for code editor background?

One of the things I appreciate about Eclipse that keeps me using it now is that it looks reasonably native to a GTK desktop. Previously this included the code editor window, but if I want this with the new LSP-based editor I apparently have to make my own theme manually?

It'd be really nice if we could just make the editor use the system textbox background color regardless of selected theme.

Yes. When I leave that set to 'system default' and turn off theming in General/Appearance, the old C editor takes on the native GTK background color for my desktop (In this case a muted gray-green from the Pho-Earth GTK theme, c.f. https://www.gnome-look.org/s/Gnome/p/1467179), but in the new editor it's always (nearly) white or black unless I make my own theme file.
