Context
Couple custom stream implementations were introduced as part of binlog forward compatibility / secrets redaction efforts.
Those will need attention. See dotutils/streamutils#2 for more details
Goal
Adopt changes from dotutils/streamutils#2
Compare perf numbers before and after.
