This looks like a good approach to the problem - we need module-info for testing (although ideally it could be merged with that from the src/main/java folder)

Manually merging is a good start. Granted, users need to synchronize module-info elements carefully and correctly from main to test ... and update it when-ever the main module descriptor changes. Automatic module-info merging is possible and already a feature offered by https://github.com/forax/pro
