Root Cause Analysis

The repetitive output "I will now run the test" appears to be caused by the Gemini API streaming response handler in src/api/providers/gemini.ts. When the API response doesn't have a proper candidates structure (possibly due to an error or malformed response), the fallback condition at lines 274-276 yields text chunks directly from chunk.text without any validation or deduplication.

Proposed Solution

1. Add repetition detection logic in the Gemini handler's createMessage method to identify and filter out repeated text chunks during streaming
2. Implement a sliding window buffer to track recent text chunks and detect when the same text is being repeated consecutively
3. Add logging to help diagnose when this issue occurs in production
4. Add test coverage to ensure the fix works correctly and prevent regression

Implementation Details

• Modify src/api/providers/gemini.ts to add repetition detection in the streaming loop
• Track the last few text chunks (e.g., last 5 chunks) and compare new chunks against them
• If a chunk exactly matches any of the recent chunks, skip yielding it and log a warning
• Add a configurable threshold for how many repetitions to allow before filtering
• Ensure the solution doesn't affect normal streaming performance

This approach will prevent the UI from displaying repetitive text while still allowing legitimate repeated content when it's intentional.

The fix adds repetition detection to filter out duplicate text chunks that were causing the "I will now run the test" message to repeat. The implementation uses a sliding window buffer to track recent chunks and filters out any that appear more than 3 times consecutively.
