502 - Emojis + Long message makes page take too long to load

Steps to reproduce the problem

1. Make a question with emojis and text long enough to show the "show full question" button
2. Answer it
3. Open a page showing it

Expected behaviour

Loads normally

Actual behaviour

Takes 5 extra seconds to load the page

Detailed description

When an user has many long questions/answer with emojis, the load time adds up and can surpass 60s, throwing a 502. Timeout can be increased to 120s on NGINX as a workaround.

Specifications

Retrospring 2024.1001.0 -> updated to 2025.0228.0, but haven't tested yet, will update the issue after testing
Ruby 3.2.3
Node v18.19.1

Multiple browsers (firefox, chrome...)

Can you check if the load times occurs on Rails or on database level?

Because application-wise we have no extra logic regarding emoji.

Hi Pixel, thanks for the quick reply. We upgraded the host VM by adding a few more CPU cores and that solved the problem. Looks like the server needed more juice to handle the increasing demand.
