Add recording feature to keyboard

I have been working for long to add the recording feature to the keyboard, which enables a user to record what he/she is playing on it and save it as an MIDI file. However, attempts till date to bring this feature have been unsuccessful.
Would be very helpful if someone could come up with workable code to make this happen.
