Describe the feature

Hello, lawnchair now supports deck layout. This mode is not a true drawer mode, as shown in the image,

It merely presents a layout option to hide the app drawer and automatically add new apps to the home screen.

Simply “automatically adding new apps to the home screen” presents a problem: if using third-party installers like InstallerX or Aurora Store , shortcuts for new apps will not be added to the desktop.

such as video,

I'm using a deck layout. When I use this “installerX” installer, the new app gets installed, but no new app shortcut appears on the launcher.

There's a reason for this: this installer doesn't support "automatically add new apps to the home screen" feature of Lawnchair, so it won't add shortcuts. There are many other apps that also won't add shortcuts, such as Aurora Store.

Therefore, I believe the deck layout remains rather inconvenient. For users like us who dislike drawers, a true drawerless mode should be introduced.

There is currently a launcher that is truly drawerless, and that is Lawndesk, This is a launcher based on an early version of lawnchair, featuring a true drawerless design.

Unfortunately, this launcher doesn't support quickswitch, and it hasn't been updated in a long time—it's been abandoned by its developers...

Drawerless mode is actually available on phones like Samsung and Xiaomi, but it's limited to those devices.

We drawerless enthusiasts have always had few launcher options to choose from.

If Lawnchair could support true drawerless mode, it would be a dream come true for us!

Why would it be useful to add?

The true drawerless design is incredibly comfortable for those who don't want a multi-layered launcher.

If this mode were subpar, Samsung and Xiaomi wouldn't have adopted drawerless mode as their default either.

For us, the drawer mode has many drawbacks:

  1. If a new app is installed using a third-party installer like InstallerX or Aurora Store, its shortcut won't automatically appear in the launcher and must be added manually.

  2. When we have hundreds of apps installed, the drawerless mode lets me know for sure that a specific app is on a certain page. But with the drawer mode, I can't even know if an app has been added to the launcher. Sometimes it's already there, but because I didn't notice, I end up with multiple shortcuts for the same app. It's just too messy.

Did the feature exist in Lawnchair v2? (Play Store version)

No

This Lawndesk is truly drawerless—it's fantastic!

But unfortunately, the developer has abandoned this app.
