Collaboration Call: June 15, 2018

1. Technical Updates

UK team

  1. Work has been completed to split the GitHub repository to separate the code from the web presentation.
  2. Our new developer Martin Bamford will be in work for 2 weeks in June and then on leave until 8 August. Martin should be able to join the call on 29 June. If possible we could set up a longer call before that just to discuss technical aspects with Brock and otherwise we’ll do this in August.
  3. We are reviewing the Reporting Status page following feedback internally and from Rwanda wanting to move away from the current red, amber and green status.
  4. Work continuing to encourage more country case studies about UNECE country NRPs to be published here. This includes links to the UNECE country NRPs.
  5. Here’s a link to an SDGs focussed story map produced by Ireland.

US team

  1. The French changes were merged but have yet to be pushed to the public side.

CODE team

  1. Brock fixed a few bugs on the US platform with the javascript
  2. Working on the proof-of-concept to merge the US and the UK platform. This is done in two parts: working on the data repository and then on changes to the site.
  3. The disagreggation for the data will depend on the different types of data and may require some changes to the naming of the columns from the data producers’ side.
  4. Will bring up the open-source mapping options with Phil this afternoon.

Country/subnational interest in cloning the NRP

  • UK
    1. Has successfully set up a national reporting platform for Rwanda and populated it with 6 indicators so far. The staging version is here. Are starting to look at amendments required to produce maps with Rwanda boundary files.
    2. Still no decision in Germany as to whether they can adopt the UK/US platform.
    3. A member of the UK SDGs team is joining a mission to Ghana next week. Following the visit we should know more about the status of Ghana’s NRP and any support they may require.
  • US
    1. Armenia has forked the US platform but needs help integrating it with their databases.
    2. They have funds to bring to people from the US to come to Armenia to finish setting up their platform and the connection to the servers and database. Brock is coordinating with Phil on this.

2. Next steps

  1. Brock meeting with Phil to discuss the proof-of-concept and open-source mapping options.
  2. UK will set up a technical call with Martin, Phil and Brock.
