New GitHub Account but Same School Email

Hi everyone,

I recently lost access to my GitHub account vtnguye because I no longer have the recovery code or 2FA device. As a result, I created a new GitHub account. However, I’m now unable to use GitHub Education for Copilot. Could you please deactivate Copilot on the vtnguye account and enable it on my new account instead?

Hi @vtnguye0325,

Unfortunately, student benefits can't be transferred from one account to another.

It’s not possible to transfer Global Campus benefits over from one GitHub account to another.

However, you are able to merge your accounts, but the account with the benefits would be the main account. You can add your non-academic email from the previous account to the account containing the academic email. If you desire you can then rename this account once merged. For more details check out out the merging of your personal accounts documentation.

I recommend you contact support by opening a ticket here, select "Two-factor authentication recovery" and ask if it's possible to recover your former account.
