Premium Usage Reports are now Live

We're excited to announce that GitHub Copilot customers can now download a usage report for premium requests directly from their settings.

To get started, simply visit this link and follow the instructions. Please note that it may take up to 20 minutes for your report to be generated.

This is only accessible if you have access to billing, for companies. You should transparently show own usage to single users (maybe through VSCode?) so they can self regulate and decide how much additional requests are left for the month.

I have found that the email chosen by this functionality does not respect email routing rules. E.g I have set up that all email of my organization are sent to my business email, but the report got sent to my private email.

Which is quite problematic in context of the GDPR and data privacy as this data contains usernames and usage times and so on.

I click the button as indicated and get the notification: We're preparing your usage report We're preparing your usage report. We'll send an email to [email protected] when it's ready. but no report is ever sent. I have tried this several times today throughout the past 5 hours.

Monitor your usage regularly. Check your usage in your GitHub account settings to see how many premium requests you’ve used. This helps you plan how much you can use for the rest of the month. Can users track this? No, they cannot. As admins, we do not grant Copilot organization members admin permissions to modify policies or models that have been disabled.

Are there any options available for users to view their usage on their end? Additionally, is there a way to access through REST API or integrate it with an observability tool like Splunk or Graham for better visibility?

Premium request limits are to be effective starting today, but users (who have copilot seats from their organization and not private licenses) still have no way to track their spending. Can you confirm what is the latest update, @Akash1134 ? Thank you very much in advance!

Premium requests will have to get moved forward to a new start date yet again, because most of the billing pages for Copilot premium users are still broken as of today, June 4th.

I noticed several issues in my reports:

• There is a column called Total Monthly Quota, but its value is always Unlimited. I believe there should be a limit of 300 (Copilot Pro Copilot Business!), so I do not understand what Unlimited means.
• Premium requests are being consumed for gpt-4.1-2025-04-14. As far as I know, GPT-4.1 is the default model, so it seems strange that Premium requests are being consumed for it.
• Premium requests are being consumed at times when I don't use them (my PC wasn't turned on at all at those times!)

Could you please clarify the above points?

I pulled data this morning (June 10th) also for my enterprise and also see Total Monthly Quota as Unlimited for all the users in my enterprise.

As many have noticed:

• This is broken.
• This does not enable users to monitor and take responsibility for their own use (as only billing managers can access it), and there is far too much lag time between needing the information (a report request) and getting it.
• This (in combination with the one-subscription-per-user and lack of per-user access rules and/or quotas) breaks the previous recommendation that a single account can/should be used for all work and personal use.

For the first time our team's problems with GitHub are non-trivial, and our time is being consumed assessing whether we need to move away.

This reporting is just terrible. I have to jump through multiple menus (6-clicks) to get to the thingy that lets me request a report. Then I have to wait for the report. Then I have to go back to the website to download the report. Then I have to calculate how many requests I made and compare that to the limit my PAID plan has. In the time i takes me to see the count, that count won't even be accurate anymore. MS owns Copilot, Github and VSCode. Why the heck isn't this integrated into the co-pilot interface(s) and visible without user interaction and self-calculation at the point the requests are made.

Is this something added recently, can't find any changelog for this. Docs says there are two ways to view your premium request usage:

• Download a Copilot premium request usage report
