It's been quite a long time since the last release, but the code is finally in a state that I consider good enough for a new release. Some things of note in this release:

  • Rebranding to our own name, Heboris C.E., because we've diverged significantly from the original Heboris U.E..
  • Tons of bug fixes.
  • Many gameplay changes/improvements, thanks to @zaphod77.
  • Full controller support. Proper button glyphs will be shown for the major controllers (Xbox/similar, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch). There's also a new feature, "builtin controller support", currently only supported on Steam Deck, where the builtin controls always control player 1, with the first external controller then controlling player 1, the second external controller controlling player 2.
  • Extremely long replay support. This is only really relevant to Old Style mode. It's not perpetual due to technical restrictions, but good luck hitting the limit.
  • Raspberry Pi GPIO input support. Check the readme for how to use it. You only get controls for player 1.
  • We're now providing a Vita port, right alongside the other ports. Thanks to @l0wigh for their work on Heboris-Vita; the Vita support in that fork has been integrated/improved upon in our version.
  • We're providing Windows x86 and ARM64 builds, if you need them. Go with x64 if you're not sure which to use.

For the macOS version, if you want to mod the game (change graphics, etc.), or have it be portable on a USB drive, with all save data on the USB drive, go with the "portable" version. If you want to just play the game, and have it fully installed on your system with the app in the Applications folder, without portability, go with the "installable" version.

The Windows version is portable, since there's no Windows installer version yet. And the Linux Flatpak package isn't portable, it fully installs onto your system.
