Repeated QuickCapture

After all these years, why is it so difficult to implement a simple repeated QuickCapture routine?
I run/hike in the mountains and while I run I want my GoPro to emulate a QuickCapture every, say, 5 minutes, meaning every 5 minutes it should turn on, film a video of a predefined duration, say 20 seconds, and immediately turn off.
It's a very obvious use case, which should be in very high demand.
How come this is still not a thing???
Yes there are ways to partially implement this through the current QR codes, but not fully - it doesn't turn off immediately after finishing filming, for duration you have to use Duration limit from camera mode, which affects the manual, non QR controlled usage etc.

On a side note, MLM2+HL+Linear is not available as an option.

This is not an issue, I think. This just sounds like you need to run a script, have you tried scripting this?

people fix their GoPros to bike handlebars, to backpacks, to chests, to helmets, to hundreds other places. what's so crazy about asking a camera to film a 20s video every 5 minutes? why taking a picture every 5 minutes you find an acceptable use case, but filming a short video every 5 minutes is something you cannot comprehend? and why should this mean wasting battery on lighting the screen?

"you comprehend" - cut back on the insults. I was saying this has been scriptable for 5+ years, I was only wondering why that wasn't an acceptable solution.

This is an example script:

mV - mode Video,
!S - Start
!20E - End 20s later
!2N - 2 second pause (useful on some models)
!300R - Repeat in 5 minutes (the camera will be off.)

great. thank you! neither the app nor the web form provide a UI for "!300R". they only have a checkbox for Repeat and with only "!R" I couldn't get the screen to turn off after filming, except with the 1 min screen timeout.
