[Feature Request] Ability to disable Quick Launch or only activate it with shortcut

Description

Homepage is the default page when I open a new tab. Before homepage when I typed something the focus was in the url bar of the browser (safari), lookup into my history and so on, this was nice.

However with Homepage by default the Quick Launch takes precedence and I need to click into the url bar (or type cmd+L) to get my previous behavior.
This is not much to do but annoying for my use case.

A more flexible option would be to have a configuration in homepage to :

• enable or disable Quick Launch
• or set a shortcut (like /) to activate Quick Launch

Default behavior could stay the same as today but having the choice with setting is better in my opinion.

Why is this feature request getting ignored? Seems like such a simple ask but no one has responded to this question yet and a similar one asked a year ago was closed because no one responded to it either. Are we missing something?

I wanted to handle this feature myself as there was no official feedback, but I came to the conclusion that it is not possible from the web app itself. Actually it is seen by the browser as a normal website, and like for any website the focus is not in the url tab and cannot be set for security reason (you don't want a site to type in the url bar for you...).
The behavior of having the focus in the url bar by default is possible only when no default page is set in the browser when opening a new tab.

So as far as I understand it will not be possible for homepage to implement this.

Maybe trying something with system wide keyboard handlers like karabiner elements to change the shortcut but I couldn't find a way yet.

I'm on Firefox and use this extension to achieve URL bar focus on new tab, though this is slightly different than what the feature request is outlining.

However, I'd still like the ability to actually disable the quick launch feature in Homepage; when opening a new window in FF (instead of a tab), the browser focus is on the content, and when I start typing it activates Quick Launch, which I just don't want.

Indeed my actual need is to be able to type in the url bar which is quite not exactly the same as my title implied. Hopefully this setting will be eventually implemented.
