Kann man die alte Hardware überhaupt noch kaufen bzw. wäre es nicht sinnvoller mehr Resourcen in neue Firmware zu stecken? |

Alte Hardware gibt es meiner Erfahrung nach hauptsächlich bei ebay (was auch schon jemand auf der Firmware-Info-Seite erwähnt hat). Problem mit "Resourcen in neue Firmware stecken" ist, dass die aktuelle Hardware (v14) des recht beliebten Einstigsrouters TL-WR841N vermutlich (laut einigen Aussagen auf der Mailinglist) nie unterstützt werden wird. Der Grund dürfte sein, dass der zu wenig RAM / Flash hat (siehe: https://openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl-wr841nd#hardware). OpenWRT empfiehlt hier mehr:

Currently there are quite some unsupported hardware versions of the entry level router TL-WR841N. It seems that a lot of users buy these routers. Hopefully a hint directly at the recommended routers will help reducing that.
