delta as difftool

Can delta be used as a difftool, so it can be used as 'git difftool --tool=delta' with

[difftool "delta"]
        cmd = f:/temp/delta \"$LOCAL\" \"$REMOTE\"

However the command just hangs, is delta calling git-diff and a loop occurs? (pager is not set)

The use case I have is that I like to switch between difftools to get different views. I would like to integrate delta as done with difftastic in Git Extensions

One workaround is to use git -c core.pager=delta diff
At least no specific Git configuration is needed, even if the GE handling requires special handling
