Batch notifications using the --notify flag

Currently, when using the --notify flag with multiple changes at once, messages are sent in groups of one or two at most (at least when using shoutrrr_url with SMTP). Therefore adding or migrating to a new DNS provider, results in many sequential emails.

Is this the intended behavior, or should notifications be batched?
