I have just added support for macro {AppDir} (it means upper folder of 'settings' dir) in the main app - in its recents list. And it its Project Manager.
About point 2 in your post. |

If you use ExternalTools plugin, solution is already here. plugin supports {AppDir} and {AppDrive} macros in its dialog of tool properties. |

I don't think adding AppDir to About dlg makes sense, it is general info, not tech info. |

I want to create an archive of CudaText with predefined settings.
So, need to use relative path here:
cuda_project_man.json
For example, some additional executable files may are included to editor archive but cant be run from the relative directory of the editor.
It is a problem to build something over CudaText due to mentioned restrictions.
The main idea is to avoid enforcing developer to setup whatever.
Steps to fast start to develop:
Download CudaText -> Extract -> Run -> Welcome file or files with examples will opened -> Developer can create files and dirs in default project, compile and run the code.
